Picnic At Hanging Rock (1975)
Upper House MP Bernard Finnigan was charged on four counts of child pornography on the 20th of April, 2011.
He is STILL a sitting member of parliament. Under South Australian law, if an MP misses twelve consecutive days of Parliament, they automatically forfeit their seat. This week, Finnigan attended a Parliamentary sitting for a whole EIGHT minutes before leaving, thus extending the control over his seat until at least September 14 (when Parliament next sits).
This is absolutely disgraceful and I am hard pressed to find a better example of electoral representation… unless of course we assume that the majority of South Australian voters are all for child pornography. Our state may have some scum, but even my cynicism has its limits.
PLEASE reblog if you are from South Australia (or even Australia, or anywhere, I don’t care). Most people hardly even know he was charged, let alone that he still can make use of several Parliamentary perks and still has a paid staff of around twenty. SPREAD THE WORD.
EDIT: Of course, innocent until proven guilty, but I mean really, child porn charges aren’t just thrown around.
