Today I attempted to buy something “American” that I could bring to Australia and give to nice people.  I don’t have a “host family” so I wasn’t going for anything fancy, but I don’t think I did a very good job at it.  It’s not like you can’t buy just about anything sold in America in Australia, and the things you wouldn’t be able to get there that I love so much about here don’t exactly ship well (Notably: Sundrop, cheerwine).

I got a dozen cheapy little flags, and some toy baseballs and candy, but I have no idea if the candy is available there, so I might end up eating it.

I’ve heard of all the “quintessential Australian goodies”… Milo, vegemite, Tim-tams, etc… that I’ll have to bring home, yet I’m in America and can’t figure out what’s quintessentially American that the rest of y’all don’t already have.

I’m sure once I arrive I’ll start missing things and have someone ship something over for my Australian “mates” to try (I apologize.  That word sounds so unnatural coming from me, and the quotes didn’t help.) but while I’m still here, any ideas?
